Mobile Food Pantry Volunteer
Feeding South Dakota is the only food banking organization in the state. Feeding South Dakota’s Mobile Food Pantry volunteers travel with staff to distribute free food to individuals and families in need in rural South Dakota. The items distributed by the Mobile Food Pantry supplement the work of partner pantries, shelters and meal sites operating in fixed locations. The type of food distributed varies depending on what is available at the current time. Volunteers will leave in the morning with a driver and return in the afternoon or meet staff at the distribution locations. Comfortable clothes and closed-toe shoes are required.
- Ride with team members to deliver food, help pick up or unload product
- Assist distribution center staff with loading and unloading trucks
- Lift 20-30 lb bags or boxes of food at a time
- Greet members of the public in a friendly, respectful manner
Time commitment: Shifts are weekdays, Monday through Friday and hours vary depending on distribution location.
Location: Feeding South Dakota, 4701 N Westport Ave, Sioux Falls
Qualifications and requirements: Must be at least 18 years old. Must be able to lift 10-30 pounds.
