Pet Therapy ( Calm Dogs Wanted)
LifeScape's Pet Therapy Program LifeScape's Mission: “We empower children and adults with disabilities to lead fulfilling lives.” LifeScape welcomes dogs and dog Owners to come and spend time with people who receive services from LifeScape. It is a therapeutic and fun experience for everyone! Volunteer Times: Day Services: Monday through Friday: · 10:00-11:00am · 1:00-2:00pm Residential Service: Monday through Friday: Typically after 6pm · Mondays - 6p-7pm · Thursdays-6p-7pm · Between 6:30p-8pm Residential Service: Saturday and Sunday: · 2p-4pm · 1p-4pm 1st Choice · 9:30a-11am 2nd Choice Dog Volunteer Requirements ü Provide documentation that the dog is up to date on all vaccines (Canine parvovirus, heartworm , distemper, canine hepatitis and rabies are considered core vaccines by the American Animal Hospital Association’s Canine Task Force. ü Required to have flee & tick treatments all year long ü The ears are clean, nails are clipped and smooth, ü Spike or pinch collars are not allowed and the collar should be free of decorations - such as stones, which could scratch residents. ü A bath must be given to the pet within 24 hours of their visit/must be clean. ü Please bring along dog brush/grooming tools & treats (as appropriate). ü The dog’s demeanor must have: o an exceptional temperament, o needs to be a quiet and calm dog (no barking) o tolerate other animals o wants to be with people, wants to be groomed, wants to be touched, ok with sitting still To volunteer, Express interest below.
