As a Senior Companion, you will work one-on-one with individuals who need a little extra help to remain independent. You’ll visit your Senior Companion client on a regular schedule that fits both your availability and your client’s needs - whether it’s weekly, bi-weekly, or more frequently.
Our Senior Companions engage in a variety of activities, including but not limited to: companionship, playing games, enjoying hobbies together, assisting with grocery shopping, errands, and transportation, light household tasks, providing respite for caregivers
Income eligible Senior Companions receive:
- A tax-free stipend of $4.00 per hour to help cover your volunteer expenses. It’s not considered income, so it won’t affect any benefits you receive, such as Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP), Medicaid, or HUD Housing.
- Personal and holiday leave
All Senior Companions receive:
- Mileage reimbursement
- Supplemental insurance coverage while volunteering
- 20 hours of pre-service orientation and monthly in-service training
