The 2024 Southeast Area Bocce Tournament will be held in Sioux Falls at McCart Fields on Sunday, August 18, 2024.
Special Olympics South Dakota is looking for volunteers to assist with our Southeast Area Bocce Tournament. We are looking for two referees who would conduct the game of Bocce by measuring the balls through and deciding which one is closest to the Pallina. We are also looking for those who can assist us with keeping score of the games. The game of Bocce is easy to learn and pick up to referee. You also have a chance to interact with Special Olympics South Dakota athletes.
More than 300 Special Olympics athletes, coaches, and Unified Partners from across southeast South Dakota will be competing in the tournament. The Southeast Area Tournament is to help prepare everyone for the State Fall Classic event in Rapid City in September.
We will have 10 Bocce courts set up and need 3 volunteers for each court; two referees and one person on scorebook. We will hold a volunteer training session before the tournament begins. The game of Bocce is easy to learn and a fun way to interact with Special Olympics athletes.
The volunteer opportunity is from 8:30 AM - 1:00 PM.
