Southeast Area Softball is coming to Sioux Falls on August 17, 2024, at Sherman Park.
More than 250 Special Olympics athletes, coaches, and Unified Partners from across southeastern South Dakota will be attending this tournament. The Southeast Tournament helps prepare everyone for the State Fall Classic in Rapid City in September.
We are looking for scorekeepers, umpires, scoreboardkeepers, and assistance with our Skills Competition.
- Scorekeepers - Keep track of the games via the Official Softball Scorebook. Knowledge of how to fill out a softball scorebook is preferred.
- Scoreboard - Use the electronic scoreboard to keep track of runs.
- Umpires - Ump home plate and call balls/strikes/outs/safe or Ump bases. Please email jkvanli@sosd.org with your umping experience so we can better place you on the field.
- Skills Competition (9:00 AM - 12:00 PM) - The Individual Softball Skills Competition is provided for athletes with limitations (such as walkers or wheelchairs), younger athletes, athletes new to the sport of softball, or older athletes who may have the skills but are no longer able to play the game. There are two shifts:
- Morning Shift - 8:30 AM - 12:00 PM
- Afternoon Shift - 11:30 AM - 3:00 PM
