On Wednesday, June 22nd, 2022, the Sioux Falls Regional Airport, in conjunction with Sanford and Avera Hospitals, will conduct a disaster drill. This readiness / training exercise will ensure that all organizations involved will be ready in the event of a crash situation at the Sioux Falls Regional Airport. Volunteers are needed to play the roles of crash victims. Staff will position them and give them a card detailing an injury, which they will hold. Volunteers will then be triaged and transported to one of the hospitals via ambulance or bus. A light breakfast will be provided at 7:30 a.m. while volunteers are being briefed on the day's activity. The airport portion of the disaster drill is expected to end by 11:00 am, and volunteers shoud expect to be returned from the hospitals by 1:30 pm.
