Want to make a difference in someone's life through teaching English language learners?
Caminando Juntos, a Hispanic Ministry Center in Sioux Falls, is seeking patient, friendly, and compassionate individuals to serve as classroom teaching assistants in our adult English classes.
Volunteers should be available to assist one evening per week in our group classes. Teaching assistants will work in cooperation with the classroom teacher to provide extra support and assistance to students (model pronunciation, practice speaking, help clarify, give examples, answer questions, etc.).
Volunteers receive ongoing training and support to make their job easy and rewarding. Volunteers should be open to working with diverse cultures. An intermediate level of Spanish is desired.
English classes run twice per year (fall and spring) and last 10 weeks. A volunteer orientation and screening session is required and a commitment of one semester.
Minimum Age:18+
Fall Session: Sept to Dec
Spring Session: Feb to May
