Share your time. Share your heart. Make a new friend.
Some of the people supported by Black Hills Works are looking for something many of us value every day—a genuine friendship.
As a Community Companion Volunteer, you'll be matched with an adult with an intellectual or developmental disability who shares similar interests. Together you'll spend time doing everyday activities like grabbing coffee, taking a walk, attending a community event, playing games, working on puzzles, exploring local attractions, or simply enjoying good conversation.
You don't need any special experience—just kindness, patience, and a willingness to connect. We'll provide guidance and support to help you build a meaningful friendship.
Volunteer commitment:
- Flexible schedule
- Just 2 - 4 hours per month
- Activities based on your shared interests
- Ongoing support from Black Hills Works
A few hours of your time can help someone feel more connected, confident, and included in our community. And chances are, you'll leave each visit smiling too.
