The Western region of the South Dakota SHIINE program is looking for assistance with our program. Our primary focus is to help qualified seniors navigate Medicare--ranging from educating about potential fraud to understanding their individual plans. Due to the rural nature of our state and technology barriers, this is a tremendous need, particularly during open enrollment (October 15th to December 7th each year). We are looking for volunteers to help represent us at events (health fairs, county fairs, etc.), and in particular, for some who would be willing to train to help seniors with their Medicare needs. We have no firm timetable, so training can happen at YOUR pace, and you can set your own volunteer schedule for as little or as much time as you wish to be involved. You will be making a HUGE difference in the lives of a very overlooked and vulnerable population!
