Friends of the Missouri National Recreational River

Friends of the Missouri National Recreational River is the official nonprofit partner of the Missouri National Recreational River, a unit of the National Park Service. Our mission is to help raise awareness, enhance, and advocate for the remarkable resources, recreation, and economic opportunities of the Missouri National Recreational River. We are based in Yankton and were founded in 2015.

Friends of the Missouri National Recreational River connects youth, families, residents, volunteers, and visitors to the Missouri National Recreational River through education, stewardship, and outdoors recreation. Our activities include youth watershed education programs, civic group presentations, volunteer events like litter cleanups and invasive plant removals, and outdoor recreation opportunities like hikes, paddles, fishing, and more.
