The American Red Cross is a nonprofit organization that provides emergency assistance, disaster relief, and disaster preparedness education in the United States. The Red Cross's mission is to prevent and alleviate human suffering by: Mobilizing volunteers, Using the generosity of donors, and Helping individuals and communities prepare for emergencies.

Disaster relief: Providing food, cleaning supplies, and other necessities to families recovering from disasters 

Blood services: Procuring and supplying blood in case of emergencies 

Training and certification: Offering classes in CPR, first aid, lifeguarding, learn to swim, and water safety 

Service to the armed forces: Helping members of the military, veterans, and their families
