Literacy Council of the Black Hills

The Literacy Council of the Black Hills is a volunteer-based nonprofit organization that teaches adults to speak, read, and write English. If you are already an English speaker, we can help you improve your literacy skills. We do not charge for our services, and we provide tutors with the resources they need.

Our trained and supported tutors are committed to working with students each week on individualized learning goals in one-on-one tutoring sessions or in conversation classes for ELLs.
