

Who We Are
Black Hills Reads is a Campaign for Grade-Level Reading Initiative through United Way of the Black Hills that leverages its flexible role to breakdown industry silos, to streamline and improve collaborations, and ultimately to strengthen the systems that serve early learners and their families.
What We Do
As an engaged backbone organization and funder, Black Hills Reads promotes early learning and literacy opportunities for early learners under age nine and their families in the Black Hills. Some of our programs and activities include:
-Baby's First Book Bag,
-Reading and Writing Challenges,
-Power Hour Virtual Learning Events,
-Dolly Parton's Imagination Library and Imagination Book Stops,
-Young Readers One Book,
-Community Bookshelves (and other activities to improve access to books),
-and more!
