Senior Health Information and Insurance Education (SHIINE) is a federally funded program that provides free, confidential, and unbiased information and assistance to Medicare beneficiaries. Volunteers are an essential component to the work of the SHIINE Program. Some of their roles include but aren’t limited to: administrative tasks; distribution of information; staffing information booths at outreach events; making and/or provided presentations; educating and assisting beneficiaries with enrollment and insurance plan selection; educating about preventing and detecting Medicare fraud, abuse or errors; assisting beneficiaries with reporting fraud, abuse or errors.
