Therapy Dogs International Chapter 200
https://www.tdi-dog.org/Therapy Dogs International Chapter 200 is a volunteer organization rooted in responsible dog ownership. Our mission is to bring joy, smiles and health benefits to the elderly, the young and all ages in between by sharing our well-mannered, kind-hearted, well-trained certified Therapy Dogs. Our dogs minister to those who would benefit from pet therapy, who love dogs, who have lost dogs and/or who can no longer have their dogs with them. We certify dogs for Therapy work in retirement communities, hospitals, schools (Tail Waggin' Tutor Program), churches, funeral homes and many other facilities and for special events. We contact and credential our dogs with the facilities we visit. We assist owners in the training and certifying of their pets - purebreds and mixed breeds. Certification involves testing the dog with handler for good temperament, ability to be calm with distractions and for good manners - basic (not necessarily "perfected")obedience. The owner/handler and dog are tested together and make up a therapy team.
