Light Carpentry Work
The Sioux Empire Community Theatre recently moved into a new 4000 square ft scene shop / costume shop. With more capacity it means more room for volunteers! We are looking for retirees or anyone with daytime availability who enjoy carpentry, scene painting, sewing, organizing, etc and who is also looking for a social outlet. We've done a great job of developing an evening community of volunteers and artists, so why not have the same thing in the daytime?
Take John for instance, a semi-retired carpenter / handyman who volunteers for us most of the year. He came to the theatre world after his wife passed away. With his kids all grown, an empty house, and a job where he was frequently working by himself, he craved a community where he can socialize. Thirty sets later, he is still our daily lifeblood at the shop.
