Adopt a Home with Love
Adopt a Home with Love Welcome to the Neighborhood! Adopt-a-home is a year long (can be flexible with amount of time) opportunity to get to know adults with disabilities living at a specific home and in your neighborhood. Each month, gather your family, friends or a small group of co-workers (5-7 people) to come over and spend time with people at their home. This is a unique opportunity Activities ideas are endless but a few could be:
Winter months:
Night of games and desserts
Movie and treat night
Holiday crafts
Play cards
Scrapbooking
Help a person write a letter to a family member or close friend
Plan a menu and help people create a wonderful home cooked meal
Make goodies
Search the internet
Listen to music - share your musical talents
Watch a favorite t.v. show and discuss Help scrap snow from sidewalks
Make a snowman with someone
Have a snowball fight (gentle of course)
Come over to exercise
Bring over your calm and loving pet
Help re-decorate a person's room
Help paint a room
Paint on canvas
Play video games
Spring months:
Assist with yard clean up
Rake, paint, window washing,
general house clean up
Take walks outside
Plant flowers
Plant a garden
Summer & Fall Months:
Help garden Outdoor activities (bean bags, walks, playing catch)
Stop over on a rainy day to brighten a person's day
Call just to say Hello
Send a card
Have a picnic Enjoy conversation while sitting on the deck
Have a Wii tournament
Bird watch/people watch
Come to laugh, stay as a friend.
Plan with us and host a neighborhood block party
