Resident Companion
Resident Companion Program/Agency: Dow Rummel Village Date: Flexible Time: Flexible Social interaction is an important part of healthy aging. Being a resident companion can involve many different activities including: Reading to residents in the Eva Allen Health Care Center, The Assisted Living Center, or the Memory Care Center; especially to individuals struggling with visual impairment. Reading material may include daily/weekly newspaper, magazines, and books. Playing board games, card games, BINGO, shuffleboard, bean bags, or Bocce call with residents. Planting flowers and gardening with the residents in the Assisted Living or Memory Care Center. Assisting residents with receiving/responding to emails and letters from their family and friends, sending birthday cards, and sending holiday cards. Assisting residents in attending different programs/activities on campus. Sharing the outdoors with residents either by walking with resident or assisting with walker or wheelchair.
