Join us on a Saturday from 12 PM to 2 PM at the CHS Main Campus!

We invite energetic individuals and groups to help create fun experiences for our children.

Here are some exciting ways you can contribute:

·       Storytime Adventures: Lead captivating story sessions that spark children’s imaginations and fill the room with laughter.

·       Open Gym Fun: Help organize games and activities that bring joy and encourage new friendships among the kids.

Volunteer Provides the opportuinity for children to interact with a positive adult role model. Volunteer facilitates cheal learning and increase of self-esteem through physical activities.  Volunteer communicates efftively with staff about scheduling, personal preferences, and therapy plan.  Volunteer assists school staff where needed.

Being a big buddy provides a unique opportunity to become a friend and mentor to a child. Big Buddies commit to one year of visiting a CHS child, typically weekly, with at least two monthly visits. Big buddies may act on a student's behalf in the educational decision-making process.

The Donations Processor is responsible for documenting, inspecting, and organizing donations and stock and maintaining the inventory of closets and storage areas.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Process and organize in-kind donations.
2. Stock, organize, and maintain the inventory of assigned closets and storage areas.
3. Assist in keeping the shelter clean and orderly.
4. Help with putting seasonal clothing in the Boutique

5. Helping shelter staff with tasks such as but not limited to, Passing out hygiene items, laundry detergent, Hair products, etc.

Work Schedule:
Hours are Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays between 9 AM and 5 PM.

1.      Answer doors and assist visitors.

2.      Answer telephone, route callers, and distribute messages.

3.      Record in-kind donations

4.      Security standards are consistently maintained.

5.      Confidentiality is consistently maintained.

This position processes donations, stock, organizes and maintains inventory of the boutique and provides customer service to clients.  Associates commit to 1-2 hour shifts per week to keep the boutique stocked and assist clients.  Boutique hours are 10 a.m. to 12 p.m, Monday-Friday.

Child Advocates provide companionship, comfort, and care to children from newborns to those aged 18 who are staying in the shelter.

1. Assist in providing supervision of children with shelter personnel

2. Assist with preparing and serving meals and snacks

3. Plan and facilitate activities for children in shelter, with or without a parent

4. Assist in keeping the shelter clean and orderly.
