Rescue Squad: The Rescue Squad is called to assist Rural Fire with their firefighting efforts and conduct search and rescue operations. This team operates and maintains specialized vehicles and equipment used to respond to these types of calls. The Rescue Squad meets and trains monthly. Dive Team: The Dive Team meets and trains to conduct searches underwater in low visibility situations. There are monthly meetings and numerous training opportunities. The Dive Team works closely with other dive teams throughout the area. Dive certification is preferred however not necessary as Emergency Management will provide or reimburse for training. The office of Minnehaha County Emergency Management is currently accepting applications for officers for the Minnehaha County Police Reserves.

Applicants must be of good moral character, have no criminal background, be a licensed driver with a good driver’s history, be at least 21 years of age, and be in good physical health.

The Minnehaha County Police Reserve Law Enforcement Unit currently consists of volunteer reserve law enforcement officers. The primary function of a reserve officer is to supplement and support career law enforcement officers. Reserve officers have participated in assisting at parades, Sioux Empire Fair, marathons, holiday patrol, street dances, community events, tournaments, and dignitary visits such as Presidential details.
