Opportunities From: Helpline Center Volunteer Connections

The Salvation Army's Women's Auxiliary group is actively seeking new members. Women who have a passion to see their community changed for the better, who desire to support families and children through their volunteer activities. If you want to make a big impact by giving a little of your time, the Women's Auxiliary is for you! 

A few of the main events the Auxiliary helps with is our Christmas Toy Shop which is in November and December. They also volunteer for our Coats for Kids, Shop with a Cop, Community baby shower, as well as a fall bake sale and a summer hot dog sale.

The group meets the second Monday of every month from 12:00pm to 1:00pm.

The Rapid City Salvation Army Thrift Store is looking for volunteers to help recieve donated items. We ask that volunteers be over 18 and be able to lift more than 30lbs. The dock worker will recieve, sort and organize donated items. We have a variety of shifts we recommend 2-4 hour blocks. The thrift store is located at 621 E St Patrick St, Rapid City, SD 57701.

From its inception, The Salvation Army has relied heavily on volunteers who support its programs. Often referred to as “the army behind The Army”, volunteers play a crucial role in response efforts during a disaster by positively impacting the lives of those involved.

In times of community crisis, people frequently want to “give back” and look for ways to share their time and talents with others. Being a part of The Salvation Army’s Emergency Disaster Relief work is an opportunity to provide basic human needs to disaster survivors and first responders in the aftermath of devastating event

The Salvation Army relies on trained and credentialed disaster workers to provide much needed services to those impacted by an emergency or disaster. These individuals are assigned to their local Salvation Army unit and may be contacted to serve locally and/or across the country.
