Volunteers for Arbor Day Festival

Volunteer Hours: Arrive by 4:30 P.M. & Release by 7:30 P.M.

Sioux Falls Parks and Recreation are gearing up for Arbor Day event and are in need of volunteer groups! Volunteers ages 16 and older are needed for crafts and carnival game attendants. The educator role provides meaningful conversations with beneficiaries and their families. Counselors help review personal information—such as medications, billing statements, and Medicare notices—requiring trust, confidentiality, and specialized training. It’s an incredibly rewarding way to directly support those who need guidance.

Help bring the Siouxland Renaissance Festival to life! Committee Members support planning and execution of the annual festival through monthly meetings and collaborative teamwork, with an all-hands-on-deck commitment during festival weekend.

Responsibilities:
Attend monthly planning meetings (about 1 hour)

Assist with festival setup, operations, and teardown

Create & Deliver Easter Baskets to Children and Adults Supported by LifeScape!

Help children and adults with disabilities to celebrate the important time of Easter by creating Easter baskets.  Many children and adults will not have the opportunity to spend time with family during Easter.  Your creative touch and gift will help people at LifeScape feel the love during the Easter time.

Easter baskets can be made from any ‘container,’ big or small.  Containers could be a plastic cup, a basket, a Tupperware container, a box, a paper folded to hold items, egg carton, small cloth bag, clay pot, etc.  Decorate the containers as you choose.

A variety of item ideas to fill Easter basket are listed below. Be sure to write an Easter Note from you to your LifeScape Friend.  Pick a theme or two below and have fun creating an unique basket knowing you are sharing your kindness during the special Easter time!

Deliver times:  Mon- Friday 7:30am-7:30pm, Saturday and Sunday 10am-2:45pm.  Please leave with the Receptionist.   LifeScape will help get these beautiful Easter Baskets to those in need.

Choose to create a basket for a child or an adult and let your creativity run wild.

Easter Egg HUNT and Learning Stations –Seeking Volunteer Mentors Who Enjoy Helping and Having Fun!

Seeking individual volunteers and small volunteer groups to assist with facilitating an indoor, Easter Egg Hunt and learning stations for students with disabilities supported by LifeScape to create a inclusive holiday event.

Date: April 1, 2026 (Wednesday)

Time:  5:30pm -  7:45pm

Volunteer Roles & Tasks

·         Setup Team (4:00 PM – 5:30 PM): Help prepare the indoor area for the hunt. Early arrivals (2–3 people) are especially welcome [User Prompt].

·         Buddy Mentors (15 needed): Pair up with a LifeScape student to help them find specific colored eggs, practice counting to 20, and redeem eggs for prizes [User Prompt].

·         Egg Redistributors: Reset the hunt area three different times for different groups of participants 

·         Station Facilitators (2–3 per station): Run easy, Easter-themed learning stations focused on teamwork, thinking, and fun

LifeScape Location:  2501 W. 26th St, Sioux Falls, SD

Illness policy:  All volunteers will be healthy while volunteer.  No symptoms/free from illness 3 days prior with no fever reducing medications.  We support children with complex medical needs – a minimal symptom for you could be devastating to children at LifeScape.

Who are Avera Volunteers?
Volunteers at Avera come from all walks of life: students wanting to explore health care careers, newcomers seeking new connections, or retirees who want to contribute their time and abilities.

Volunteer in a variety of ways to support seniors at Avera Prince of Peace. 

In School Mentoring volunteers spend one hour per week with an elementary or middle school student at the school. Mentors and students spend time doing a variety of activities together, including:

playing board games
reading a book
playing basketball
eating lunch together
simply sitting and talking

In School Mentoring offers a flexible volunteer option. With schools located in nearly every neighborhood, mentors can select a location that is best for them. Matches meet during the school lunch hour. The time varies from school to school, but it’s generally a 30 to 45 minute block of time between 11am and 1pm.

School counselors select a young person who can use extra one-to-one attention from a caring adult role model. Counselors are responsible for matching students with an In School mentor.

Designers: Scenic, Lighting, Costume, Hair & Makeup, Props, & Sound
Starting from the text of the play and initial discussions with the director, designers build the visual world of the show. Through production meetings, rehearsal reports, and conversations with the directing team, designers create sets, lighting, costumes, props, and sound that serves the needs of the actors, the vision of the director, and the intent of the author. While BHCT has a good amount of items in stock, designers are also given a budget to purchase items or buy supplies to construct items. Time commitment and complexity of design is dictated by the script. Designers are supported by the Technical Director, the Costume Shop Manager, and the Artistic Director. ​

​ Directors
BHCT relies heavily on our directors for the organization and execution of each individual production. We ask directors new to the mainstage to first work with us as an Assistant Director or as a Reading Director. All directors are responsible for casting, coaching actors, and, in the case of the mainstage, overseeing that the work of the whole production team is cohesive and supports the story of the script. Assistant Directors may be tasked with overseeing specific areas of the production in line with their experience and interest. Reading Directors are asked to focus on the interpretation and acting of the text as the readings intentionally have limited tech. All directors are supported by the Artistic Director.

Stage Manager / Assistant Stage Manager
The Stage Manager assists the director by ensuring communication, organization, and safety for the whole production team. The Stage Manager is the first person to arrive and the last person to leave every rehearsal and performance. The Stage Manager is also responsible for running the board from the booth during performances. A good stage manager will be organized, intuitive, and an excellent communicator. The Assistant Stage Manager is the stage manager’s eyes and ears backstage and on the deck during performance. They may also assist in rehearsals as needed. All Stage Managers are supported by the Artistic Director.

Music Director
Music directors assist with casting for musicals, provide vocal coaching to actors, recruit musicians, and conduct the live band during musical performances.
*The Music Director can be split into two roles – Vocal Director and Conductor.

Choreographer
​Choreographers create the movement for a production. For our musicals, that means choreographing dance numbers and teaching them to actors. Choreographers should be ready to adapt their ideas to suit the wide variety of experiences and abilities of BHCT actors and be excellent teachers.

Dramaturgs
Dramaturgs provide the relevant research for directors, designers, and actors to fully understand and interpret the world of the play.

Lasagna Love was started at the beginning of the pandemic when the founder of Good to Mama was looking for a way to help moms in her community. She and her toddler started making and delivering meals to families in the neighborhood who were struggling, whether that struggle was financial, emotional, or simply a feeling of overwhelm.
Lasagna Love has since grown into a national movement, with thousands of people all cooking and delivering meals to families in their communities. What we do is simple: feed families, spread kindness, and strengthen communities. Our mission is not only to help address the incredible rise in food insecurity among families but also to provide a simple act of love and kindness during a time full of uncertainty and stress.
Volunteers can sign up for a frequency that works for them, making a meal monthly, weekly, 3 times a week, etc. The volunteer would sign up on the website (lasagnalove.org), and then would be provided with a family's information to coordinate a date and time to deliver the meal. Providing emotional support and practical help to women is always the first priority of Birthright volunteers. The Keystone Historical Museum is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help bring local history to life! If you enjoy learning, storytelling, and connecting with people of all ages, this is a meaningful way to give back to the Keystone community.

Examples include hosting special events for our Club members such as a holiday party, arts & crafts day, or sports & fitness field day.

Looking for a way to use your talents and be a positive role model for youth in our community? Sign up to volunteer in one of our program areas like the Power Hour Homework Help, TRIPLE PLAY, art/craft room, or gym. We invite community members to come join us and lead a program in your area of expertise; such as, teach a dance class, instruct a yoga session, play the violin, paint a canvas, do a science project, harvest our garden and much more!

Need: We are looking for someone who is interested in serving in a back-up capacity for delivering Senior Commodities boxes.

Program Details: The Senior Commodities program supplies adults 60 and older and living on a limited income with a monthly pre-packaged box of non-perishable food items each month that is designed to supplement nutrients that are typically lacking in their diets.

Volunteer Details: The volunteer interested in this position will need to be able to lift 30 pounds, take/pass a background check, and drive with a current license. This position will serve more as a back-up capacity in case a current driver will be unavailable during the typical delivery time (1pm-3pm, on the 3rd Tuesday of the month). The volunteer will be trained under the current drivers.

Our location is 908 Hope Drive, Brookings, SD 57006. This building is new & map systems have a hard time locating our building. We are located just north (or behind) First Lutheran Church (337 8th St.). Please use our entrance off of Harvey Dunn St

We are looking for an individual to prepare and serve our Veteran Guests while at the lodge.  Meals include Thursday evening, three meals Friday and Saturday and one meal on Sunday morning before guests depart.  We have a standardized menu we serve for every hunt.  We have a strong group of volunteers available to assist.  We have 14 hunts per Pheasant hunting season which is from Sept-March.  Works out to be every other weekend.  We have specific guidelines we follow based on being a world-class hunting lodge that caters to Veterans.  Interested individuals will be contacted and interviewed. 

We are looking for an individual to assist in creating social media content for our FB, Linkedin, and Instagram pages. Also do some video creating, editing work.  

Join us for the 2026 Annual Big Sioux River Greenway Cleanup — the largest litter-removal event in Sioux Falls! The cleanup takes place on Saturday, April 25, from 10 a.m. to noon. There will be seven check-in stations located in City parks along the recreation trail that follows the Big Sioux River through town.

Volunteers can pick up cleanup supplies at check-in stations, including maps, trash bags, and plastic gloves. Please complete the volunteer sign-up below to pre-register for this event. Pre-registration saves you time on the day of the event and helps us ensure each station is stocked with enough supplies.

Want to create crocheted Ponchos to help keep people warm?

LifeScape supports many people with limited physical movement.  Ponchos provide a over-the-head, easy to wear, warm layer all year long.  We are seeking and welcoming crocheted ponchos for male and female adults.

Crocheted Ponchos should have no holes or very small holes, thicker/heavy yarn, medium sized neck hole, and longer styles.  Otherwise the rest of the pattern, colors, adornments are up to your interpretations and creativity.   Have fun being creative knowing your hobby and talent is keeping others warm, all year long.

Our Sharing Christmas Store occurs every December. At our store, we need volunteers to help do a variety of tasks including: 

-Checking in shoppers

-Carrying gifts/toys to shoppers' vehicles

-Restocking the store throughout the day

=Pricing toy/gift donations

-Helping shoppers pick out gifts/toys

-Run checkout station with bagging toys/gifts, using register, and tendering change

Our Sharing Christmas Store occurs every December. During our toy drop off days, we need volunteers to price toys for the store. Staff will be available to help and monitor. The toys are all discounted from the retail price. This includes using your phone to look up retail prices on toys/gifts and marking them to the store price. This involves lifting and moving items of a variety of weights and standing for periods of time. 

Sewing Volunteers Needed

Do you enjoy volunteering at your own home, on your own time?

Do you have a sewing machine and can help with sewing projects?

Do you want to use your ‘Sewing Super Powers’ to help ensure children and adults with disabilities have the fabric ‘tools’ to be successful everyday?

No need to be a master seamstress but an interest in helping and following pattern instructions to create needed, daily items.

LifeScape will have the sewing instructions and all the supplies, we just need your sewing skills to create and adapt to specific needs.

LifeScape has a variety of sewing needs such as (in order of need)

1.      Lunchtime t-shirt protectors (towels sewn under a t-shirt front). It’s easy!

2.      Ponchos for warmth and weather protector (child and adult sizes)

3.      Fabric covers for wheelchair lap trays

4.      Absorbent, long toddler bibs with snaps

5.      Medical adaptations of undershirts

6.      Pillow cases of all sizes (for repositioning)

7.      Patching seams and fixing hems

8.      Sewing on LifeScape Girl Scout Troop badges to vests/sashes

9.      Adapt sheets to fit crib sheet sizes

10.    Alter Prom Dress straps

11.    And more as needs arise.

Baking Desserts Buddies Welcomed (bake and donate)

Do you enjoy baking desserts and treats but don’t want to eat them all? 

Do you want to bake and donate sharing your delicious creations with adults supported by LifeScape?   “Baking is done out of love, to share with family and friends, to see them smile.” 

LifeScape supports adults in 39+ residential locations.  A dessert made with love is exactly what lifts spirits and inspires people!

Whip up your favorite dessert recipe or try a new recipe and then schedule to drop it off at an assigned LifeScape Home. 

All dessert recipes are welcomed, no concerns about allergies.

If you enjoy baking with allergy awareness, we would have opportunities to bake for gluten free, peanut free, and/or dairy free as well.   

This bake desserts and donate can be an on-going cooking opportunity or a one-time opportunity.

Or if you would like to come to a LifeScape home and teach a few people to bake your dessert recipe to pass along a family tradition?  We would love to invite you to our house to do some baking together!  We could welcome individual volunteers and/or 2-3 volunteers in our home to bake with us!

We sustained significant damage from severe winds in December. Volunteers (& groups) are needed to help with cleanup efforts so the camp can be ready to welcome campers this summer. Volunteer tasks include, but are not limited to: cutting & removal of risky trees, fallen trees, gathering limbs& branches, helping to load onto trailers for removal, etc. Experience with safe handling of a chainsaw is a bonus, but not required, as there is much to do. Dow Rummel Village is seeking a friendly, dependable volunteer to help lead one of our residents’ favorite activities, Bingo! This volunteer will call Bingo numbers and help facilitate a fun, engaging hour of play for older adults on Wednesdays and occasional Saturdays. Your presence helps create connection, laughter, and meaningful social interaction for residents.

Black Hills Children's Home is seeking individuals with an open heart for our Big Buddy Program.  These volunteers will spend one on one time with a child at our residential campus in Rockerville who do not get to leave campus our get visitors.  Volunteers will spend time play games are doing arts and crafts and be that child's "special person" 2-4 hours each month.

Black Hills Children's Home is seeking individuals for our School Buddy Program.  This volunteer will serve as an educational advocate for Children's Home Society children whose parents/guardians cannot be identified or located or who are wards of the state.  This volunteer will work with our education department to make sure the children assigned to them are meeting academic goals/needs through their IEP.

Camp is always open to volunteers looking to help in various ways. Depending on the groups, we may be open to some extra help in the kitchen, or with general maintenance ie; staining cabins, helping to fill holes in the field (trip hazards), light maintenance on the grounds &/or facilities, etc. This year, with the recent storm, there most likely will be needs in other areas. Contact Sherry, the Camp Manager to confirm, as we have a contract with the Forest Service & proudly part of the National Historical Registry. We may need an approval process prior to larger projects / groups. Each Spring we do a 'Camp Cleanup Weekend' to prepare for the hundreds of kids / families / groups coming to enjoy the magic of camp. Additionally, each Fall, we do an annual Fall Volunteer Day to sadly... close up for the season.  We can always find a place for volunteers &/or volunteer groups! 

We are always seeking kind and patient individuals who are interested in spending one-on-one time with our guests. Volunteer opportunities include friendly visits, assisting with craft projects, and engaging individuals in games or other activities.

This event will be held at The Monument in Rapid City from April 11-12, 2026. Please note that volunteers must be 13 years of age or older. Volunteers are needed during the following times:

Sunday, April 12: 11:45 am – 4:00 pm
