We are currently looking for volunteers to help deliver these meals and ensure they reach the seniors who rely on this service in the Box Elder area.
Time Commitment: Approximately 1–2 hours, once per month
Schedule: Deliveries take place on the first Tuesday morning of each month. The next delivery is August 4, 2026.
Location: Box Elder area
Deliveries: Up to 10 stops per route
What to expect:
Volunteers will meet with Feeding South Dakota and me at a designated location in Box Elder to pick up the frozen meal boxes and a delivery route sheet.
Volunteers will then:
Safely deliver frozen meals to assigned participants.
Provide a brief, friendly check-in during each delivery.
Obtain a signature from each participant upon delivery.
Requirements:
Valid driver's license
Reliable vehicle for transporting meals
This is a small time commitment that makes a meaningful difference—not only by providing nutritious meals, but also by offering a friendly visit and point of connection for the seniors we serve.
Inter-Lakes Community Action (located in Madison, South Dakota) partnered with Western South Dakota Community Action to expand the 60s Plus Dining Program to western South Dakota, helping fill the gap in areas where Meals on Wheels does not currently provide service. Our mission is to ensure that no senior goes hungry.
Our program provides monthly deliveries of frozen meals to adults age 60 and older living in Bennett, Dewey, Fall River, Meade, Perkins, and parts of Pennington County. Each meal box includes nutritious, fully prepared frozen meals (cooked in Madison and flash-frozen for freshness), along with milk, juice, and bread.
