Help create a safe and enjoyable experience for thousands of festival guests during the Real America Birthday Bash in downtown Rapid City! Volunteers on the Crowd Management & Crossing Guard Team assist with pedestrian flow, help guests navigate busy areas, and support safe crossings throughout the event.
Volunteers will serve at key locations around the festival, including assisting as crossing guards on Omaha Street and helping monitor entry and exit areas during high-traffic times. This role is ideal for dependable volunteers who are comfortable giving directions and interacting with the public in a friendly and professional manner.
Volunteers should report to the Main Street Square Board Room 30 minutes prior to their scheduled shift for instructions and assignment locations.
Volunteer duties may include:
Guiding crowd and pedestrian flow
Assisting at entry and exit points
Serving as crossing guards on Omaha Street
Communicating concerns to event leaders
Helping guests safely navigate festival areas

July 3 & July 4, 2026
11am-1pm- 2 crossing guard, 1 floater at Main Street Square, 1 floater at Memorial Park
1pm-3pm-2 crossing guard, 1 floater at Main Street Square, 1 floater at Memorial Park
3pm-5pm-2 crossing guard, 1 floater at Main Street Square, 1 floater at Memorial Park
5pm-7pm-2 crossing guard, 1 floater at Main Street Square, 1 floater at Memorial Park
7pm-9pm-2 crossing guard, 1 floater at Main Street Square, 1 floater at Memorial Park
9pm-11pm-2 crossing guard, 1 floater at Main Street Square, 1 floater at Memorial Park
