Help support a safe and successful drone show during Rapid City’s America’s 250th Celebration! Volunteers will assist with monitoring the designated flight safety perimeter during the evening drone display. Each volunteer will be paired with a Park Ranger or City employee and stationed at key access points to help keep spectators outside restricted areas during flight operations.
Volunteers will receive a short orientation prior to the event and will be provided with safety equipment, including high-visibility vests and whistles. This is a simple but important role that helps ensure the safety of attendees and supports a memorable community celebration.
Volunteer Duties
Assist Park Rangers or City staff in monitoring the drone show safety perimeter
Help direct spectators away from restricted flight areas
Observe and report any safety concerns to supervising staff
Wear provided safety gear during the event
Remain at assigned location throughout the drone show operations

Time: 8:00 PM – 10:00 PM
Drone Show Flight Time: Approximately 9:30 PM
Location: Bocce Ball Courts by CHS
Check-In: Volunteers should arrive promptly at 8:00 PM for orientation and equipment distribution

Weather-appropriate clothing for evening outdoor conditions
Water bottle recommended
Additional Information
Volunteers will work alongside experienced City staff and Park Rangers. No prior experience is necessary. This opportunity is ideal for adults and responsible older youth who enjoy community events and helping maintain a safe environment for families and attendees.
