Brookings High School will be hosting the Northern District Qualifier for the National Speech and Debate Association (formerly National Forensics League/NFL) Tournament Friday and Saturday, February 28-29. For this qualifier, we need to supply thirty public forum judges. Judges do not need to have experience in speech or debate to be effective as this is an event intended to be judged by lay judges. ?
Students should be two years removed from high school in order to judge. We will need judges from 6:15-8:30 for two rounds on Friday night and/or judges from 9-12:30 am Saturday morning. We are willing to pay $10 per round for judges. We are also always willing to accept volunteers.
The topic being debated at this tournament is: Resolved the United States should replace means tested welfare with a universal basic income.
