Volunteer: Program Assistant

Program Assistant
Volunteer Description
Purpose: To assist instructors and staff with outdoor educational programing.

Key Responsibilities:
*Assist in the delivery of educational programming. 
*Assist in classroom set up and clean up.
*Help with participant registrations and waiver signing.
*Assist staff in monitoring safety and participant behavior.
*Play an active role in participation and education. 
*Learn and have fun.
*Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Dependable, patient, flexible, able to work in a team, enjoy interacting with others, and must have a strong desire to learn and grasp new concepts.

Example of classes: canoeing, kayaking, Archery, Shooting, Hiking, Snow shoeing, Fishing, Fly Fishing, climbing, wild game cooking, animal education, plant identification, and many many more.

Training: All of our volunteers are required to go through a basic orientation class.

Volunteer: Information Desk Greeter

Purpose: To greet and provide information to visitors and participants about The Outdoor Campus-West and South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks.
 
Key Responsibilities:
*Greet visitors and give valuable information about The Outdoor Campus-West and South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks.
*Answer questions about GFP and TOC-West and provide forms when necessary. (Ex: Volunteer applications, hunting applications, state park stickers, HuntSAFE registration, etc.)
*Provide information about activities occurring at TOC-West.
*Monitor visitor entrance.
*Answer phones when secretaries are unavailable.
*Greet participants.
*Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Dependable, patient, able to work with GFP staff, enjoy interacting with others, able to work independently or in a small group, able to answer phones and take accurate messages when needed, and must have a desire to learn.

Training: All of our volunteers are required to go through a basic orientation to The Outdoor Campus-West. Additional training will be provided by the volunteer coordinator or GFP secretaries as tasks are assigned.

Age Requirement: Greeters must be at least 18 years of age or older.
