Volunteer: Food to You, the mobile food pantryVolunteer at a Thursday Distribution
4-5 people from 4:15-8:00 pm Volunteer groups from organizations, churches, and businesses, or family and friends are needed to sponsor and provide workers for each weekly food distribution. Distributions happen from 6-7 pm on Thursdays. Volunteers come early on the Thursday they are scheduled to help to be trained by the Food to You coordinator, set up the area, unload and arrange items, and interact with guests as they conduct the distribution. Here is what is needed from each group: 4-5 volunteers to be at the site by 4:15pm to help with set up and stay through and help with the distribution, usually done before 8:00pm 15-18 volunteers to be at the site by 5:15pm, including some who are able to lift and carry boxes. All volunteers should be high school aged or older, middle school aged children may volunteer with adult supervision. A sponsorship donation of $450 to cover the expense of the food purchased from the Feeding SD as well as the cost of the truck and driver for that evening. 4-5 people from 4:15-8:00 pm Volunteer groups from organizations, churches, and businesses, or family and friends are needed to sponsor and provide workers for each weekly food distribution. Distributions happen from 6-7 pm on Thursdays. Volunteers come early on the Thursday they are scheduled to help to be trained by the Food to You coordinator, set up the area, unload and arrange items, and interact with guests as they conduct the distribution. Here is what is needed from each group: 4-5 volunteers to be at the site by 4:15pm to help with set up and stay through and help with the distribution, usually done before 8:00pm 15-18 volunteers to be at the site by 5:15pm, including some who are able to lift and carry boxes. All volunteers should be high school aged or older, middle school aged children may volunteer with adult supervision. A sponsorship donation of $450 to cover the expense of the food purchased from the Feeding SD as well as the cost of the truck and driver for that evening. Volunteer Leaders are needed! To become a Lay Leader, you will attend either a 4-day in-person training or a 7-week week virtual training that consists of twice weekly 2.5-hour sessions and agree to a minimum two-year commitment. You’ll receive a leader manual and complete training activities identical to those taught to workshop attendees. You’ll learn how to implement and administrate the program and complete practice teaching assignments.
