About TeamMates: Where it All Began
TeamMates Mentoring was founded in 1991 by Coach Tom Osborne and his wife Nancy, who believed that positive relationships could change lives.
What started with 22 Husker football players mentoring middle school students in Lincoln, Nebraska has grown into a powerful movement—proven from the start, as nearly all of those original mentees graduated and pursued further education or careers.

Mentoring matters because students matter. Being a mentor is a great opportunity for you to literally make an impact on today’s kids and the future as well.
As a school-based or post-secondary mentor, you have the opportunity to inspire students to identify their unique gifts and talents while providing them with a sense of hope.
Now more than ever, our students need an additional positive and caring adult in their life – like you.
